General Information

Background As a native of western Kansas, Colten discovered his passion for agriculture while learning to farm from his grandfather. From playing football for Garden City Community College to serving a two year service mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in California, Colten’s expansive and travel experience ultimately led him in pursuit of his childhood passion of agriculture. He attended Brigham Young University-Idaho earning his Bachelors in Science (B.S.) in Agriculture Business. After a few years at a biological fertilizer company, Pharmgrade, he welcomed the opportunity to broaden his agriculture background and focusing on helping local farmers with their realty and management needs. Colten states, “Growing up on my grandpa’s wheat farm in western Kansas instilled in me a passion for agriculture. The opportunity wasn’t quite right to return to his farm and so I began looking elsewhere for a career that would be involved in the agriculture industry. When I began talking to Howard Halderman about the opportunity in Michigan it felt like a dream opportunity. I appreciated what Halderman stands for, the services they provide, and their reputation.”
